a bridge too far?

A dilemma. Standing before a bridge with steal grating that’s not suitable for dog paws.

Options to go over the bridge:

The dog gets carried away – the boss carries the little dog

HALLOWEEN - SINT-MAARTEN

TRICK-OR-TREAT: Traveling together with your children and dog(s) from house to house in order to ask for treats such as candy: trick or treat. Along the way there are enough dog games to play. Upstairs, downstairs, waiting behind fences, play hide and seek behind a brick wall, sniff at doors and know exactly who lives there (maybe a friendly dog or a sugar daddy) – the dog owner can verify that by the ‘beware of the dog’ or name signs. You’ll be amazed how many acquaintances your dog has.

SINTERMERTE

Samen met de kids tijdens Sint Maarten (de Nederlandse variant op Halloween) langs de deuren gaan voor lekkers. Onderweg zijn er genoeg onderhoudende spelletjes. Treetjes op- en aflopen. Voor of achter een tuinpoortje blijven wachten. Aan deuren snuffelen en precies weten waar (bekende) soortgenoten wonen - u kunt dit vaak controleren aan de hand van de ‘hier waak ik’ schildjes. Of u kunt samen vaste adresjes aandoen waar de hond steevast een koekje scoort zoals een buurtgenoot die graag voor suikeroom of -tante speelt. U zult versteld staan hoeveel ‘smakelijke’ namen uw hond kent.

MERRY-GO-ROUND CARROUSEL

MERRY-GO-ROUND

The dog has a firm grip on a short branch or dental floss. Whirl him at first once around. His four feet are off the ground. There must be enough space around the both of you so no one gets hurts.

This trick is only suitable for (young) dogs with a strong set of teeth.

CARROUSEL

Laat de hond zich vastbijten in een korte dikke stok of een stevig (flos)touw. Zwier hem in de rondte. Zorg dat er voldoende ruimte voor een draaicirkel is zodat de hond nergens tegen kan stoten. De hond waarmee je de carrousel doet moet over een sterk en gezond gebit beschikken.

CATCH THE TAIL - WEZELEN

CATCH THE TAIL

Stuffed animals are fun to cuddle and play with. Use a squeaky one with a slender body and a long tail for this hunting game. For instance a weasel or skunk. Turn it sideways with swift movements and twirl it rapidly round the floor. Use both hands rapidly.

Or ty a rope on the head of the stuffed animal and run around. No hunting dog can resist this exciting game.

Tip: wear gloves, so the paws won’t scratch your skin. 

WEZELEN

Pluche beesten zijn leuk om mee te knuffelen en te spelen. Gebruik voor het staart najagen een smal piepbeestje met lange staart zoals een stinkdier. Beweeg het snel over de vloer heen en weer. Gebruik beide handen voor snelle oversprongbewegingen. Je kunt ook een stukje touw aan de kop binden en ermee rond rennen. Geen enkele hond met jachtaspiraties zal het kunnen weerstaan.

Tip: trek handschoenen aan, zodat de nagels je huid niet beschadigen.
