KNIPOGEN - WINK AN EYE

Leer je hond knipogen. Kijk hem recht in de ogen aan en knijp een oogje dicht. Doe dat overdreven door een wang hoog op te trekken. Blijf open, dicht herhalen. Op het moment dat hij terug knipoogt, klak je.
Een kalmerend signaal afgeven door beide ogen tegelijk kort gesloten te houden en weer te open zal de hond ook spiegelen. Honden gebruiken het onderling ook (zie foto).

Teach your dog to shake off mud, dirt, rain drops or snowflakes from his coat. 

1) Run your fingers through his (back) hair. The dog will shake his raveled coat. At the same time you say: shake. 

2) When your wet dog comes out of the water and shaking the water off, say: shake. A smart dog grasps the idea soon.

U kunt uw hond leren zijn natte hondenjas uit te schudden voordat hij ergens naar binnengaat. Strijk met uw hand tegen de rugharen in en zeg ‘schudden’. Omdat zijn haren in de war raken, zal hij daadwerkelijk zijn vacht uitschudden. Na enkele keren hoeft u alleen maar ‘schudden’ te zeggen. Uw hond snapt voortaan wat de bedoeling is.

STACK OF WOOD - HOUT NAAST DE DEUR

Nothing is to dangerous for a Norwegian Buhund. Does your dog also love climbing? If you come across a stack of wood in the forest check first if it’s safe!! Better use a sturdy firewood pile alongside a house.

For the chicken ones: hide a scent patch between two trunks.

HOUT NAAST DE DEUR

In het bos komt u ze vast weleens tegen: grote bergen opgestapelde boomstammen. In stedelijk gebied vindt u de minivariant als openhaardhout onder een afdakje langs of achter het huis. U kunt in de openingen een brokje of een geurlapje stoppen. Kleinere honden kunnen over de houtblokken lopen. Controleert u wel eerst of het veilig is?

HOOL-A-HOOP HOEPELEN

Put a hool-a-hoop on the floor (or a rug, or a baby blanket that you fold out on the floor). The dog stays put about 20 feet away, waiting for your command. Send your dog to the circle. Spread your arm towards the hoop to send him. At the exact moment the dog enters the circle you use the command ‘sit’ or 'stay'. If your dog won't go towards the hoop, trigger him with the words: ‘go look for …’ Of course than you have to put a tasty reward in the circle. 

Also a suitable game for senior dogs.

Met een hoepel kun je verschillende leuke dingen doen. Leg de hoepel op de grond. Laat de hond op een afstand van vijf meter zitten. De bedoeling is dat de hond binnen de cirkel komt te zitten. Dirigeer hem richting hoepel met een zendend armgebaar, geef tijdig  het commando ‘zit’. Heb je geen hoepel dan kun je een matje of kleedje gebruiken. Een inventief spelletje voor gevorderden en senioren.

During summer time your dog can cool down with a tub filled with approximately 5 inches of water. Put some plastic or rubber toys in it which the dog can dive for. If your good friend wants to play along, that’s double fun.

Tijdens zomerse waarden zit er in de meeste honden weinig fut. Een verkoelend spelletje is duiken naar speelgoed. Vul een badje met ongeveer 10 cm water. Gooi er enkele rubberen of plastic speeltjes in die de hond kan opduiken. En wil je beste hondenvriend meehelpen, dan is dat dubbele pret.
