Dogs love to run. Owners mostly not. Dog scootering is an activity where you scooter an unmotorized scooter while the dog runs at your side. It provides exercise for both dog and human ( a great way to loose weight by the way)  The dog can walk freely or wears a harness that is hooked to the scooter with a line.Most dogs take to this sport readily. Scooters are considered safer than bikes by many as it is easy to step off. But before you take your dog for a fun run attend a workshop dog scootering. 

BRAIN WAVE FOR DOGS - BRAINWAVE VOOR JE HOND

An intelligence and ability boosting game for your dog. Cut three to five (not to many otherwise the kibble drops too easy) holes in a carton role. Put some kibble in it. Close the lid on both ends or block the ends if the lids are gone. By rolling the carton role on the floor or whirling in the air the kibble spreads. With this game it's not supposed to shred the carton role. But hey, if your dog likes to destroy and it keeps him busy ...

Denk- en behendigheidsspel in één. Boor in een posterkoker een stuk of vijf gaten. Doe er brokjes in. Sluit de beide uiteinden af met de bijbehorende doppen of deuk de beide toppen naar elkaar toe. Door ermee te rollen of te zwaaien vallen de brokjes eruit. Het is taboe om de koker stuk te bijten.

PLAY TRAY

Materials: a plant tray, ball, plant pots upside down, plush toy, pins ...

Springtime. You want to plant the plants you just bought in your garden. Your diligent dog wants to ‘help’ you. Keep him busy with the empty tray that you filled with all kinds of stuff under which you hide treats. The dog has to pick it up before he finds his treat. Make it more difficult by using strange objects or put the treat in a Kong.

PLANTEN TRAY

Lente! Je wilt de net gekochte planten in je tuin planten. Jouw ijverige hond wil je wel een 'hondje' helpen! Houd hem bezig door de lege planten tray te vullen met de omgekeerde lege plastic plantenpotjes of speelgoed waaronder je een kleine beloning legt. Maak het moeilijker door er vreemde voorwerpen (of de Kong) in te leggen.

LET'S ROLL - AAN DE ROL

Fun and low-cost intelligence test. Save as many used up toilet paper rolls as fit in the cardboard box you’re gonna use. Fold one end and put a treat in it. Put the toilet paper rolls standing in the box. To make it more difficult you fold both ends. Now it’s the dog his turn.

Leuk en goedkoop intelligentie testje. Spaar de lege hulsjes van closetrollen. Vouw een kant dicht, stop er brokje of een koekje in. Vouw van sommigen het andere uiteinde ook dicht. Zet alle rolletjes staand in het doosje. Nu is de hond aan de beurt.

BIG DISCOVERY - GROTE ONTDEKKING

Does your dog own his own treasure chest where his toys are stored? Hide unseen (when your dog is in the garden or out for a walk) a tasty bone or cookie between his toys. Are you too curious how long it takes before your explorer sticks his nose up in the air and starts snuffling?

Hide once in a while something tasty between his toys. Watch if he mouses about on a regular base. It’s nice for him to know that he has always something to look forward to.

Bezit jouw hond een speelgoedkist of opbergbox zonder deksel? Verstop er ongezien (als de hond in de tuin is of uit wandelen) iets lekkers in: bijvoorbeeld een kauwkluifje of een koekje. Ben jij ook zo benieuwd hoe lang het duurt voordat zijn neus in de lucht gaat en jouw ontdekkingsreiziger begint te snuffelen waar dat lekkere geurtje vandaan komt?

Verberg er zo nu en dan iets lekkers in. Dan zal hij uit eigen beweging vaker de box gaan controleren om te kijken of er iets lekkers tussen verborgen ligt. Zo heeft je hond altijd iets om naar uit te kijken.

KNIPOGEN - WINK AN EYE

Leer je hond knipogen. Kijk hem recht in de ogen aan en knijp een oogje dicht. Doe dat overdreven door een wang hoog op te trekken. Blijf open, dicht herhalen. Op het moment dat hij terug knipoogt, klak je.
Een kalmerend signaal afgeven door beide ogen tegelijk kort gesloten te houden en weer te open zal de hond ook spiegelen. Honden gebruiken het onderling ook (zie foto).

Learn your dog to wink. Look him straight in the eyes and wink an eye. Overdo it a little by pulling your cheek way up. Clack at the same time your dog blinks back at you.

A calming sign is close both eyes at the same time. Open them and close again. Your dog will do the same. Dogs have also such a mutual understanding.

STACK OF WOOD - HOUT NAAST DE DEUR

Nothing is to dangerous for a Norwegian Buhund. Does your dog also love climbing? If you come across a stack of wood in the forest check first if it’s safe!! Better use a sturdy firewood pile alongside a house.

For the chicken ones: hide a scent patch between two trunks.

In het bos komt u ze vast weleens tegen: grote bergen opgestapelde boomstammen. In stedelijk gebied vindt u de minivariant als openhaardhout onder een afdakje langs of achter het huis. U kunt in de openingen een brokje of een geurlapje stoppen. Kleinere honden kunnen over de houtblokken lopen. Controleert u wel eerst of het veilig is?

HOOL-A-HOOP HOEPELEN

Put a hool-a-hoop on the floor (or a rug, or a baby blanket that you fold out on the floor). The dog stays put about 20 feet away, waiting for your command. Send your dog to the circle. Spread your arm towards the hoop to send him. At the exact moment the dog enters the circle you use the command ‘sit’ or 'stay'. If your dog won't go towards the hoop, trigger him with the words: ‘go look for …’ Of course than you have to put a tasty reward in the circle. 

Also a suitable game for senior dogs.

Met een hoepel kun je verschillende leuke dingen doen. Leg de hoepel op de grond. Laat de hond op een afstand van vijf meter zitten. De bedoeling is dat de hond binnen de cirkel komt te zitten. Dirigeer hem richting hoepel met een zendend armgebaar, geef tijdig  het commando ‘zit’. Heb je geen hoepel dan kun je een matje of kleedje gebruiken. Een inventief spelletje voor gevorderden en senioren.
