DOG COLLECTS WASTE - HOND RUIMT AFVAL OP

Fall and spring are excellent times to collect waste because of bare bushes. A rewarding task for your dog: apport empty plastic bottles or wood (for the fire place) and trade it for a treat. Caution: injuries from polluted bottles or sharp materials. 

                                            

Herfst en voorjaar, als het struikgewas nog kaal is, is een uitstekend tijdstip om een inzamelactie te houden. Een dankbaar klusje voor je hond: lege petflessen en wegwerpartikelen voorbrengen. (Of als je thuis over een open haard beschikt, je hond sprokkelhout mee naar huis laten sjouwen.) Let op dat er geen scherp materiaal aan het zwerfafval zit, waar hij zich aan kan verwonden.

GARDENING FOR DOGS - TUINIEREN VOOR HONDEN

A (male) dog can be of great assistence in the garden. Although the busy season is almost over, your dog can help by replanting. Digging new holes, supply gardening tools, and watering the plants. For those in pots and containers you can ask your dog to apport the watering can. Big help, great fun!

Ook al is het tuinseizoen bijna voorbij, jouw hond is altijd bereid om bij te klussen als tuinhulp. Voor het verplanten kan hij gaten graven, tuingereedschap aanvoeren en de planten water geven. Voor potplanten kun je de hond vragen de gieter te halen. Ga hierbij hetzelfde te werk als bij apporteren: eerst de hond kennis laten maken met het voorwerp, de naam ervan aanleren, vastpakken, voorbrengen, en uitbundig belonen. Leuk, gezellig samen bezig zijn!

HORSE AROUND - RAVOTTEN

Do you and your dog understand each other? Then nothing interferes with having a romp. Crawl on hands and knees or roll over the floor whilst provoking him a little bit. See how your dog reacts. Guard his body language: is he enjoying horsing around like a couple of oversized puppies, does he frolic? Stop when you're scaring him, or when he gets too excited or aroused.

Hebben jij en je hond een goede band? Dan is ravotten leuk vermaak. Kruip op handen en voeten of rol over de vloer en daag hem een beetje uit. Let op de lichaamstaal van de hond tijdens de stoeierij. Amuseert hij zich? Gaat hij helemaal los? Stop als hij het eng vindt, of als hij overenthousiast raakt of opdringerig wordt.

ROLL OUT - UITROLLEN

roll out - uitrollen

Materials: beach mat, Yoga mat or bath towel. Dog food.

Roll up the mat and place by each turn a piece of dog food. Put the mat on the floor with the last piece of dog food in the fold at the beginning. The dog sticks his nose in it. At the same time you say: 'roll' or 'push' so he can fold out later on anything you ask him to. It's an easy trick because each and every dog searches for more food while unwinding the mat or towel. You just have to relate the command to the action.

Materiaal: strandmatje, yoga mat of badhanddoek. Brokjes.
Vouw de badhanddoek in de lengte dubbel. Begin met oprollen en leg bij elke draai een brokje. Leg de opgerolde badhanddoek neer met aan het begin in de kneep een brokje. De hond pakt het brokje en duwt tegelijkertijd de handdoek een beetje om. Zeg: 'duwen' terwijl je voor de hond, met de handdoek tussen jullie in staat. Deze combinatie van spel en truc is een inkoppertje: de hond wil de brokjes en rolt als het ware zelf de handdoek uit. Door de oefening te herhalen met gebruik van het woord 'duwen' (en het later verminderen van de hoeveelheid brokjes) leert je hond het afrollen zichzelf aan.
